International Rwanda Links
HCMS International Rwandan School Link
We are extremely excited to announce that we have established an international link with an all-girls school in the Nyamasheke region of Rwanda, ES St. Francois Shangi. We have achieved this link as part of our Olympics program, which seeks to explore different global themes such as:
- Diversity
- Social, Justice & Equity
- Peace and conflict
- Sustainable development
The aim of developing global dimensions within our school is to broaden our curriculum and subject areas so as to incorporate wider global input and perspectives. We hope to provide our pupils with differing learning and teaching contexts, which can help them, examine their perspectives and values and appreciate how these affect attitudes and actions, challenging negative and simplistic stereotypes and images.
Collaboration with our Rwandan counterparts has already begun and on 29th November, our Horringer school pupils hosted a visit from two Rwandan Head teachers from the Nyamasheke region who were given the opportunity to experience life and the schooling environment in the UK.
Sister Edith Uwimabazi & Patrick Kalisa commented on how welcoming, polite and enthusiastic the Horringer court pupils were and how excited they were to strengthen our bond by sharing curriculum projects with their pupils back in Rwanda.
